Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 265
CI patient #265 was a 29 year old female from Minnesota. The patient was a CI member at the time of her death. The patient was signed up with Suspended Animation for their services.
The patient died at a hospice facility on January 22, 2025. Suspended Animation was on site when the patient died and more details will be available once we receive their report. The patient was driven to Michigan after Suspended Animation performed their procedures for cool down and stabilization.
The patient arrived at the CI facility at 7:40am on the 23rd of January. The patient’s temperature upon arrival was -2.2c. The perfusion started at 7:55am. The perfusion was completed at 9:35am. A full body perfusion was performed. The patient was perfused through her aorta. During the perfusion there were 5 liters of 5% Eg solution, 6 liters of 10% Eg solution, 10 liters of 30% Eg solution, and 80 liters of 70% VM1 solution used. The final refractive index of the effluents exiting the vena cava was 1.4236. The average perfusion pressure was held at 95mm and one large cannula was used. Flow rate started at 0.95 liters per minute and was reduced to 0.85 liters per minute by the end of the perfusion. The nasal temperature was -9.9c at the end of the perfusion.
There were no blood clots noted during the perfusion and there was good flow from the vena cava. Significant dehydration of the head and face was noted along with a bronzing of the skin throughout the body.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human vitrification program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was five days and 10 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
