Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 284
CI patient #284 was an 83 year old male from Florida. The patient was a CI member and hospitalized at the time of his death.
The patient died on February 20, 2026 at about midnight. Though the patient was a long time member of the Cryonics Institute, he did not have funding in place for his contract, despite several reminders from CI staff. The family arranged to fund the contract on the 23rd of February, and the funeral home was not able to arrange for transport until the 25th. The patient arrived at the CI facility at 4:30 pm on the 25th of February.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to -196c, which took 50 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
