CI Case 294

Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 294
CI patient #294 was a 49 year old male from Canada. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death.
The patient had made arrangements with a Canadian funeral director to provide standby, perfusion and transport services. The funeral director had previously perfused CI patients and transported them in dry ice. The patient died on August 13, 2026. The funeral director was on site when the patient died, and he administered heparin, did chest compressions and cooled the patient in ice. The funeral director then perfused the patient with VM1 and cooled the patient in dry ice to -80c. The funeral director obtained the necessary transit permits and transported the patient to CI in dry ice.
The patient arrived at CI on August 18th at 1pm. The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling unit to cool to -196c. The human vitrification program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was five days and 11 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
