CI Case 288

Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 288
CI patient #288 was a 61 year old female from Texas. The patient was a CI member at the time of her death and she was signed up with Suspended Animation for their services.
The patient had cancer and died in the hospital at 4:55pm on April 27, 2026. Suspended Animation was present at the time of death and provided standby, stabilization and transport services.
The patient arrived at the CI facility, packed in ice, on April 28th at 11:10am. The nasal temperature upon arrival was 2.2c.
The perfusion started at 11:32am and was completed at 1:37pm. During the perfusion there were 5 liters of 5% Eg, 10 liters of 10% Eg, 20 liters of 30% Eg, and 110 liters of 70% VM1 used. The patient was perfused through the aorta, using the cannula left in place by Suspended Animation. The final refractive index of the effluents exiting the vena cava was 1.4224. The average perfusion pressure was held at 90mm. The flow rate was steady at .98 liters/min.
The nasal temperature was -13.2c at the end of the perfusion.
There were no blood clots or edema noted during the perfusion and there was good flow from the vena cava. Significant dehydration of the head, face and body was noted, along with bronzing of the skin.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to
-196c. The human vitrification program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to -196c was five days and 13 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
