Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 249
CI patient #249 was an 80 year old male from Florida. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death.
The patient died at a hospice center at approximately 9:17am on January 28, 2024. Suspended Animation Inc. was on site when the death occurred and they provided Standby, Stabilization and Transport services to the patient.
The patient arrived at the CI facility at 7:30pm on the 28th of January. The nasal temperature upon his arrival was 2c.
The perfusion started at 7:30pm and a full body perfusion was performed. The perfusion was completed at 10:20pm. During the perfusion there were 10 liters of 5% Eg solution, 14 liters of 10% Eg solution, 20 liters of 30% Eg and 72 liters of 70% VM1 solution used. The final refractive index of the effluents was 1.4263. The average perfusion pressure was held at 117mm. Flow rate was 1.342 liters per minute. The nasal temperature was 1.7c at the end of the perfusion.
There were no blood clots noted during the perfusion. Dehydration of the head and torso was noted along with a bronzing of the skin and no swelling. Circulation to the legs and lower part of the body was minimal.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human vitrification program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was five days and 11 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
