CI Case 244
CI patient #244 was an 87 year old male from California. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death.
The patient died unexpectedly at home on August 22, 2023. Because the patient did not complete his documents or provide proof of funding, the patient was held on dry ice at a local funeral home and was not perfused with cryoprotective solutions. Once the patient’s next of kin signed the contract and provided funding for the contract, arrangements were made to transport the patient to CI in dry ice.
The patient arrived at the CI facility on August 31st at 10am. The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human dry ice program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was 25 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
