CI Case 226
Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 226
CI patient #226 was a 67 year old female from Washington. The patient was a CI member at the time of her death.
Though the patient was a member, the patient had no contract or funding with CI. Therefore, the patient was placed in dry ice at a funeral home in Washington while the next of kin signed the contract and arranged for funding of the contract. Once the contract and funding were in place, the patient was transported in dry ice to the CI facility. The patient arrived at the CI facility on June 17th at 3:45pm.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The cooling took two and a half days to complete. The reason that the cooling time was extended, was because the patient was larger than normal and more time was needed to cool the patient. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
