CI Case 223
Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 223
CI patient #223 was an 87 year old male from England. The patient was a CI member and at the time of his death. The patient died at his home on March 17, 2022. The patient was taken to the medical examiner’s office. Once the medical examiner released the patient, members from Cryonics UK arranged for the patient to be picked up and frozen in dry ice. They were not able to do a perfusion because the patient was not released soon enough by the medical examiner due to the fact that the patient died at home. The patient was held in dry ice until transport arrangements to the US were made. Once the arrangements were in place, the patient was flown in dry ice to Detroit Metro airport where he was picked up and brought to the CI facility.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human dry ice program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was 25 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
