CI Case 175
Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 175
CI patient #175 was a 77 year old female from Georgia. The patient was a CI member at the time of her death.
The patient died at home under hospice care on April 1, 2019. The patient’s next of kin had made arrangements with a local funeral home for the initial cool down and transportation. The patient did not want a perfusion, so she was immediately packed in dry ice. The funeral home staff drove the patient to the CI facility.
The patient arrived at the CI facility, in dry ice, on April 2, 2019, approximately 17 hours after death. Since the patient was not completely to dry ice temperature yet, she was transferred to CI’s temporary dry ice holding unit until she reached the correct temperature. The patient was then placed into the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human cooling program from dry ice was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was 24 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
