CI Case 271

Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 271
CI patient #271 was a 66 year old male from California. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death.
The patient died on June 17, 2025 at a California hospital. The patient was signed up with Suspended Animation (SA) for standby, stabilization and transport. SA performed field cryoprotection (FCP) with CI’s cryoprotective solutions. After the perfusion, the patient was placed in dry ice to cool to -80c, while the cooperating funeral home worked to make the transportation arrangements.
A flight was arranged for June 20, 2025 and the patient was then transported from the airport to the CI facility, while in dry ice.
Upon arrival at the CI facility, the patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human vitrification program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was five days and 11 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
