CI Case 266

Cryonics Institute Case Report for Patient Number 266
CI patient #266 was a 60 year old male from Canada. The patient was a CI member at the time of his death and had made arrangements with a funeral home in Canada for local help.
The patient died on January 24, 2025. The patient was perfused in Canada by the funeral home he contracted with. The funeral home perfused the head only and a refractive index of 1.42 was reached. They used 5 liters of 10% Eg solution, 5 liters of 30% Eg solution, and 24 liters of 70% VM1. No edema was noted. The patient was held in dry ice in Canada until transport to the US could be arranged. The patient was driven to the CI facility and arrived on January 30th at approximately 7:45pm with plenty of dry ice covering him.
The patient was then transferred to the computer controlled cooling chamber to cool to liquid nitrogen temperature. The human vitrification program was selected and the time needed to cool the patient to liquid nitrogen temperature was five days and 10 hours. The patient was then placed in a cryostat for long-term cryonic storage.
